We boldly sojourn into 2024 armed with purpose and hopefulness.

By using Fashion as a Force for Good, we design pieces that resemble runway trends reimagined through the lens of artisanal style, to combine our passion for fashion with compassion for people as each ongoing chapter is carefully curated. Various new designs are introduced each month that build upon the last, making it effortless for anyone to confidently coordinate products from one chapter to the next. Together, through harmonious designs that coordinate seamlessly, we can maximize the impacts made for women around the world!

When you shop your favorite pieces in the collection, you are standing with women around the world who are leading their families out of poverty and human trafficking. Who knew that on-trend accessories could be such a powerful force for good in the world?!

Last year brought us new changes to our annual lookbook!

We changed up our format from releasing seasonal lookbooks in 2023 to instead build an ongoing, cohesive lookbook over the course of the full year, with new “Chapters” added on the 2nd of each month. The new cadence of these continual monthly chapters was something our Partners, your customers, and the Artisans we partner with enjoyed as it created greater ongoing sustainability.

Each chapter will feature approximately 10 new ethically made, fair trade designs to continue throughout 2024.

This June Chapter features 8 new designs or design options from 2 countries, as we continue celebrating artisanal craftsmanship and world culture through home decor from India and Nepal this month.

We hope you can feel the hope behind each design in our June chapter, knowing every piece has been crafted by the hands of a woman rising from poverty and trafficking through your sales.

Meet the Artisan: Akash and Rabia’s Story of Hope

“Our belief is, as designers, we can only imagine ideas. The true heroes are the Artisans who convert our thoughts into reality. They make it happen. The crux of the matter is they are equal partners in our journey. And that’s how we treat them as well.” – Akash & Rabia

After attending design school together, Akash and Rabia quickly became inseparable, sharing the same values and passion for creating a safe work environment for women, began to design a workshop that preserved and honored both Artisan traditions and Artisans, and got married in December of 2019. The powerful couple determined to counter the sweatshop culture that often takes advantage of Artisans in India, Akash and Rabia took great care to offer protections, benefits, and opportunities that would empower their Artisans to provide their families with a dignified standard of living.

Together they created a clean, well-lit workshop near the Artisans’ homes and families. They offered specialized training and committed to pay each Artisan a living wage – above and beyond their required minimum wage. They offered interest-free home loans and even offered to sponsor a child’s education from the Artisan community every school year. They offered opportunities for Artisans to speak up whenever they had concerns or ideas. Above all, they offered their Artisans dignity, respect, and hope.

Meet the Artisan: Anjana’s Story of Hope

“I’ve worked with this artisan community for the past two years and it has provided us the opportunity to send both of our kids to school without worrying about the financials of it. My husband is a trained stitching man and I have learned my craft from him.
My husband has worked with this artisan group for 4 years. Meet the Artisan: Pinky’s Story of Hope

“When I lost my husband, my in-laws were not supportive to me and my two children. We had to move in with my parents and I was not able to send my children to school. I would often have to ask my husband’s family for money. I began looking for a job to become self-reliant and provide for my children.

Now that I am self-reliant, I can fulfill my children’s needs on my own. I am very happy because my children are fed, attending school, my work environment is very good, and my coworkers are encouraging and helpful to me.

Thank you to all the people purchasing our products. I want to be given a lot of work so our artisan community can employ even more women that are able to better themselves and help their families.”

Meet the Artisan: Binu’s Story of HopeStories of Hope in Nepal - Trades of Hope (Binu)

“I’ve been managing the finances of our Artisan community for over fifteen years. I always wanted to be involved as an Artisan and work with ceramics. So, two years ago, I began glazing and firing ceramics! Now I oversee production and orders that involve glazing and firing.

Through this Artisan community, I’ve improved my financial status. I feel my communication skills have enhanced too. So, it’s motivated me to stay positive. Being a Trades of Hope Artisan partner has provided an opportunity to make new products and connect with different people – from the raw material collection process to the finished product. One of my favorite moments as an Artisan is when my work was appreciated, and we were given another order for it. I still feel happy thinking about it!”

Every purchase gives hope to families in India’s slums.

Meet the Artisan: Muskan’s Story of Hope

Muskan works alongside five of her cousins in a small family workshop in India, where the older cousins are passing down their family’s Artisan traditions to the next generation.

“Shakeel, Muskan and Kamerule are extremely talented and are really hardworking individuals. Earlier, they lived in a village in a small room together. But now, due to all their hard work and talent, they are progressing and making a better life. Muskan was always inspired by handicraft items. Her husband is immensely supportive and lets her pursue this dream, and that’s something which is really rare in rural areas.” – Artisan Leaders in India

“We want to give our children the opportunity to study, as we didn’t have this aspect while we were growing up”. – Muskan
