How does shopping fair trade make a difference?
To women and girls around the world, your purchases are worth so much more than a price tag.
When you choose fair trade:
  • Fair, safe, and dignified jobs for a woman to change generational patterns in their family are created.
  • The number of girls with an opportunity to receive an education rises.
  • Marginalized women and children are less susceptible to falling into the hands of traffickers.
When we use Fashion as a Force for Good, we can create hope and opportunity around the world!

Today we celebrate how far we’ve come in realizing the value women bring to the table and we recognize that we aren’t done yet.
Many women are still treated poorly in areas of extreme poverty.

At Trades of Hope, we are women on a mission to stop that.

Our communications team has been doing research to provide you with the most accurate, non-biased content to support the infographics you’ll find in the media tab.

Along this journey, we’ve learned there are some websites that, at first glance, would seem to be the authority on International Women’s Day. However, some of the sites are actually a for-profit site, and not considered an official site for IWD information.

  • We suggest the website https://www.unwomen.org/en as the leading authority on IWD. (Keep in mind, websites ending in “.org” are more official, less biased websites than those ending in privately-owned “.com” sites.
  • We invite you to do your own research and engage in conversations.
  • IWD seeks to shed light on the global issue of inequality wherever and however it exists.

Below you’ll find some of the statistics our team compiled. Feel free to share this information and/or use it to create your own posts:

  • Women and girls are responsible for water collection in 80% of households without access to water on premises.
  • Globally, 35% of women have ever experienced physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence, or sexual violence by a non-partner.
  • Adult women account for nearly half (49%) of all human trafficking victims detected globally.
  • A survey of women journalists from 125 countries found that 73% had suffered online violence in the course of their work.
  • In 2019, one in five women, aged 20–24 years, were married before the age of 18.
  • “Who can support International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day is not country, group, nor organization specific. No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women’s network, or media hub is solely responsible for International Women’s Day. The day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained “”The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organization, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”” So make International Women’s Day your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.”

  • What is a Parliamentarian?
