(an #OpEd)

OK friends … I’m putting on my mom cape for a little tough love, but I know you can handle it. #dontworrygretchen

The public Trades of Hope social media accounts: Some of you Like + comment on every post. Some of you … nada, zip. 🙄🤷🏻‍♀️

In case you’re wondering, when you show our main/public Facebook and Instagram pages more love, you won’t lose customers or sales. We’re out there to have your back, too! We aim to GROW our {{collective}} business — this business that’s YOURS and HERS!

Consider your customers who are following our main socials. They see your name on comments and in 👍❤️ reactions. Your actions are NOT saying to them, “Hey, you can shop without me!”

So, what ARE your comments and likes on public socials Relating to your customers?

  • Reinforced layer of trust in the brand! (you believe in it and back it up! 💪)

  • Relational connection when they recognize a friend backing a mission they shop! (wait, that’s Santa, I KNOW HIM!)

  • Reminder of you, their Partner or Affiliate, their “fair-trade connection” through whom they should shop the best ethically made gifts! (I forgot her name, but Whoop, there it is!)

  • It can even Rekindle a dialogue between former customers who may love what’s posted publicly, even if you’re not sharing yourself! (Oh, a new DM…? “I saw your comment on the TOH FB page and really liked that necklace so I figured I’d …” BOOM!)

So next time you see a post on our public Facebook page get 19 likes, 🥺 think about that from your customers’ POV, and the message it is or isn’t sending…

If you see it, show it some love. 🤝

If you don’t see it, look harder. 🤜💥🤛
