It’s time for the FIRST Chapter of our 2024 Lookbook!

Each month’s designs will continue forward to carry you through a year of blossoming hope with looks to wear + share!

We boldly enter 2024 armed with purpose and hopefulness.

By using Fashion as a Force for Good, we design pieces that resemble runway trends reimagined through the lens of artisanal style, to combine our passion for fashion with compassion for people as each ongoing chapter is carefully curated. Various new designs are introduced each month that build upon the last, making it effortless for anyone to confidently coordinate products from one chapter to the next. Together, through harmonious designs that coordinate seamlessly, we can maximize the impacts made for women around the world!

When you shop your favorite pieces in the collection, you are standing with women around the world who are leading their families out of poverty and human trafficking. Who knew that on-trend accessories could be such a powerful force for good in the world?!

Last year brought us new changes to our annual lookbook!

In 2023, we changed up our format from releasing seasonal lookbooks to build an ongoing, cohesive lookbook over the course of the full year, with new “Chapters” added on the 2nd of each month. The new cadence of these continual monthly chapters was something our Partners, your customers, and the Artisans we partner with enjoyed as it created more ongoing sustainability.

Each chapter will feature approximately 10 new ethically made, fair trade designs to continue throughout 2024.

This January Chapter features 7 new designs from 2 countries, as we continue celebrating artisanal craftsmanship and world culture in the Dominican Republic and India this month.

We hope you can feel the hope behind each design in our January chapter, knowing every piece has been crafted by the hands of a woman rising from poverty and trafficking through your sales.

Handcrafted using one of India’s most beautiful and inspiring ancient artisanal techniques, the Posies Tea Towel Set is sure to beautify your kitchen with its handmade touch. “I’ve worked with this artisan community for the past two years and it has provided us the opportunity to send both of our kids to school without worrying about the financials of it. My husband is a trained stitching man and I have learned my craft from him.

My husband has worked with this artisan group for 4 years. Our family was in need and this artisan community provided me with this opportunity without any hesitation even when I didn’t know stitching properly. Working and growing with this artisan group I feel that my dreams of sending my kids to further their education can be fulfilled.”

Meet the Artisan: Razia’s Story of Hope

“My brothers taught me this skill of polishing & finishing the products. This is our family business, so when I completed my primary education, I started helping my family business and doing work like polishing and finishing while at home.

Now I am working, economically independent, and living a respectful life. Most of the women in my community are homemakers; they only do household work, but I work and support my family. I also encourage other women to join me at work. I want to get married, settle into life, and continue with my work. My favorite memory is when I received my first wages, I went and bought a new dress for me.”

Meet the Artisan: Babli’s Story of Hope

Babli lives in an area of extreme poverty in India where vulnerable women are often exploited in sweatshops with unfair wages, unreasonable hours, and unsafe workspaces. As an Artisan in this workshop, she is able to earn fair wages working reasonable hours in a safe workspace. The income she earns as an Artisan is empowering her to lead her family out of poverty.

“I was rescued by the National Police anti-trafficking unit. I was not happy about my rescue at first as I did not understand. The father of my baby was awaiting trial for his crimes. I never really understood what love was, I felt that I didn’t deserve love. I now understand that my life has value… I want to provide the best life possible for my son. My dream is to become a lawyer and have a family, so that my son can experience love and a real family.”

Meet the Artisan: Sofiya’s Story of Hope

“I used to live in an urban slum, where I lived with several family members. My father had a job where he could earn enough to take care of our large family. Due to ill health, my father had to leave his work and move where we live now. When we moved I had to leave my studies, I attended school only until 8th standard.

I had heard a lot about the jewelry workshop and Moon. I had heard about her activities and I longed to be her co-worker. I admired the way she was leading her life and I wanted to follow into her footsteps. Starting to work at this workshop was a turning point in my life. Now I was earning my own money.

Today, I have more confidence. I became more aware about the fact that we can change our life for the betterment. I also believe that every woman has the capacity to work at par with man. Through the various programs they offer, I believe that my future is secure. The good aspect is that I get paid fair wages. Many of my friends working in other places earn far less than me. They are still the victim of exploitation.

Working here, I have became more aware about the difference between the right and wrong. I participate in women’s meetings. Life is more meaningful now than before. At home life was naive as we only ate and slept. At work, I was trained to become an artisan as it was my wish. I enjoy making jewelry.”

I came to this artisan community with no skills. However, I saw many women just like me making beautiful leather handbags. There are many good memories since I started working with this artisan community – from financial help to mentorship – however, I was very happy when I was selected to be a Trades of Hope Girl. Meet the Artisan: Asha’s Story of Hope

There are no opportunities if you don’t have a good education. Our first Trades of Hope order came just before the 2-month COVID-19 lockdown in India. A lot of factories didn’t pay their workers then. We cannot imagine life without work. I have a sense of responsibility which has empowered me. We have a light joke about this in our workshop – that Trades of Hope has really given us hope! And if the bags and wallets I have woven sell well we will get more work and will be able to sustain during the hard times. We want to give our 3 girls good educations as the eldest one wants to be a doctor and the other two want to be teachers.
